When you repeatedly hear that Seville is “the most beautiful city in Spain”, you can’t help but want to see it for yourself, can you? I went there a bit ad hoc, as an extension of my main trip. But it was great, even if brief and superficial, and very much on a shoestring. Spain can be pricey, so how much did my two-day visit cost? Read on for details. Just bear in mind that I consciously didn’t go to any paid tourist attractions. The list also doesn’t include the cost of getting to Seville and back. In my case, it was about 70 euro – I came by train from Madrid (48.30 €) and flew back to London with Ryanair (22 €, I think).

Almost one-third went towards accommodation. Two nights in two different mid-price hostels (I particularly recommend La Flamenka!) cost me 29.50 €.

Just as you would expect, food and beverages engrossed over half of the total (56 €). This included eating out, coffee (1.50 €), a lush ice cream from La Abuela (about 5 €), and snacks (roughly 3 €). I must add that I only eat two main meals a day (a late breakfast and an early dinner). If you’re a foodie looking to indulge in the local cuisine, you’ll need to budget a lot more. Make sure you go to Veganitessen, and the very authentic and vegetarian-friendly La Cantina Mexicana.

Seville is a very walkable city. Unless you have a reason to go to the suburbs or a particular interest in public transport, you won’t need to take any of the city trams or buses. The only exception is likely to be your ride to and from the airport, which as of 2022 costs 4 €.

As a minimalist, I stopped buying souvenirs a long time ago. The only gadget I sometimes allow myself is a fridge magnet – but only if I find one I really like. This one was 2 €, which seemed cheaper than average. I also bought a set of three paint brushes in an art shop, which cost me 6.50 €.

Everything together came up to just under 100 €. To be exact: 98. It would have been much more if I’d opted for high-end accommodation and major tourist sites. You should expect to pay around 10 € for entries to the Alcázar Gardens, the Cathedral and Torre del Oro. Seville easily made it to the top 10 of my favourite European cities, so they’ll be on my agenda next time!
