This 2‑star hotel is a good compromise if you’re budget-minded, but want to stay somewhere central in the pricey Belgian capital.

The Location

The location couldn’t be more convenient: a stone’s throw from both the Grand Place and the city’s central station, and a short stroll from the Brussels Park. You can choose from affordably priced single, double, and even triple rooms.

Some of The Moon’s 17 rooms have cute windows/balconettes overlooking a bustling piazza. There’s a lot of greenery, a fountain in the middle, and many restaurants. It all makes for a special ambience, but if you’re a light sleeper, you’re not gonna like it. The sound from outside seeps into the rooms even with the windows closed well into the night. I can sleep through all sorts of noise (apart from snoring!), but I guess you can just request a room at the back.

The Room

Our double room actually turned out a triple as it had a spare single bed that served as a sofa. It was spacious, with a decent size wardrobe, a desk with two chairs, and a spare chair. There was also a small safe, and an electric fan – very useful is this hot weather!

The room had a TV mounted to the wall, but unfortunately the sound wasn’t working. The staff at the reception promised to look into it, but never did (they were very nice otherwise). There is no elevator/lift in the building, which I personally didn’t mind, but it might be an issue if you’re staying on the 3rd floor and carrying a heavy luggage.

All in all, a very pleasant hotel right in the heart of Brussels!
