Old City Inn Hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan (Review)
You might have heard that the Old City isn’t the best place to stay in Baku. But I found it just right! Although much quieter than the Fountains Square area (the actual centre and heart of Baku), it still has lots to do. And the rates are significantly lower!
Old City Inn Hotel is in a narrow, quiet street. I turned up quite early, and the staff were lovely and a bit flexible with the check-in time. Receptionist Fərzalı was particularly friendly. He gave me recommendations and made me feel really welcome.
I had booked a single room, but was upgraded to a double, which was such a nice surprise! The views from my room (number 15) were nothing less than stunning. Mine looked out onto the sea, with a good view of the Crescent building, but they also have rooms overlooking the Flame Towers at the back.
The room was well equipped with a big wardrobe, a desk with TV, a bedside table, and a chest of drawers with mirror. There was also a spacious balcony. I wish I’d made more use of it, but there was so much to do in Baku.
While there were minor maintenance issues, like features in need of repair or replacement, overall, I was very satisfied.
